Shelter Swelter, a recipe for surviving the Long Hot Summer

If its anything like last year, the long hot summer is sure to involve uncomfortable temperature swings, unfortunate heat waves, and even devastating forest fires. Send up anything up but a flare for folks in Arizona right now! (terrible fires there already). Of course, THIS SUMMER also plummets us toward an election and plunges us deeper into an unexpected pandemic. The heat of political debate and protests will additionally raise the mercury, while Covid related chaos further incentivizes seeking shelter from it all...
Shelter Swelter!

The perfect recipe to help get you through this long hot summer, hails from the great State of Kentucky! I cannot name one person I've met from Kentucky that I do not like, but I CAN name one person from the State that I do not like, and have no desire to meet. Rest assured, this recipe did not come from the Senate Majority leader.

Bourbon Slush

7 cups of water
(to douse the Senate’s deadly seven sins)
1-1/2 cups of sugar
(say pretty please, when requesting democracy, and smile while you curse)
2 cups of hot tea
(show them what a real tea party looks like, with a double dose of righteous anger)
2 cups of bourbon
(stick together in work or in support groups, since at any time, your glass may feel half full)
1 large can of frozen lemonade
(remember to unthaw the work of past generations of positive change makers and diplomats)
1 small can of OJ
(police reform will mean a lot less chasing of black men, unless they truly deserve it)

Mix ingredients in a bowl or old fashioned melting pot.

Place contents in a large freezer bag.

Place the freezer bag in the freezer where you usually keep our ice pack.

Place your ice pack on your head while your slush freezes, applying appropriate pressure.

Your Bourbon Slush should be ready in 24 hours, just in time for the heat of this summers next news cycle!
